What is the Rafters’ Szelążnica Trail?

Cruise duration: approx. 1 hour

It is a relatively short cruise leading from Lake Drwęckie through the Ostróda lock to Lake Pauzeńskie – and back.
In the initial phase of the journey, we pass, among others, the water ski lift, the Ostróda Winter Port, and the grounds of the former shipyard with a dry dock.
We sail under two Ostróda bridges.
We face two lockings on the over 150-year-old Ostróda lock – once up by nearly 2 m, and on the return by the same level difference – down.
This canal route leads towards Stare Jabłonki and was originally built to float timber from the Tabórz Forests near the lakes Szeląg Wielki and Szeląg Mały.
This trail mostly coincides with the watercourse called Szelążnica, which was used for floating timber as early as the Teutonic Knights’ times.
This is a perfect trip for people looking for a moment of relaxation and lovers of beautiful landscapes created by man in harmony with nature.
Although it is an “urban” cruise, we mostly sail with a view of forested banks or green areas.
