The inclined planes on the Elbląg Canal are a marvel of 19th-century hydrotechnics, featuring machinery unique on a global scale, powered solely by water power.
Every cruise along the canal’s inclined planes is special, offering a wealth of emotions and unforgettable memories – but this one is additionally different from all the rest: we sail “on grass” (though actually on a carriage – over railway tracks!), both down the trail − towards the sea, and (after the ship turns around) back up − towards Western Masuria.
This is where you have the chance to experience the greatest attraction and see the canal “in a nutshell.” You get to travel not only on water (along the canal connectors), but also move aboard a ship over inclined dry land…
We cross 3 inclined planes (Buczyniec, Kąty, Oleśnica) descending by boat and − in reverse order, climb the slopes of the very same structures. In other words: you ride on a carriage aboard the ship a total of 6 times, which is more than sailing one way through all the inclined planes in sequence!
The turning point on the route is the Oleśnica inclined plane, which is the “highest” structure on the trail, allowing us to overcome a water level difference of as much as 24.2 m. In total, thanks to the 3 inclined planes, we descend 63.7 m and then ascend the same amount, meaning we cover nearly 127.5 m in vertical elevation!
Here, the slopes of the inclined planes are situated at the highest point, offering the most magnificent panoramic views.

The cruise is operated by a double-decker vessel.
On the lower deck, there are 55 seats at tables, while the upper observation deck offers an additional 20 seats.

Seats on the ship are not numbered.

The ship is equipped with a toilet.

A buffet with hot and cold drinks is available on board.
