• Lake Drwęckie is a flow-through body of water through which the Drwęca River flows, from east to west.
  • The lake is located within three municipalities: the Town of Ostróda, Gmina Ostróda, and Gmina Miłomłyn, and consists of two channels: one branching west (12 km long) and another branching northwest (5 km long).
  • The Żegluga marina is located on the eastern shore, in the town bay, right next to the Pier and near the place where the Drwęca flows into the lake – “giving it” its name…
  • Sailing on the ship, we can admire the panorama of the city with its characteristic church towers. On one side, we find landmarks such as the water ski lift, the football stadium, hotels, and the Bismarck Tower; on the other side, water marinas with yachts and tourist boats. The lake seems tailor-made for water sports.
  • Passing the lake headland, we sail north, where the lake’s deepest point lies – over 22 meters. We will see the “Bajka” Water Resort, and at the end of the lake, the “Przystanek Piławki” Resort – a marina and destination for many tourist trips.
  • A characteristic feature in this part of the lake is the 10-hectare, forested “Orzechowa Island” – accessible to sailors, often a site for romantic trips, which we will sail around if choosing the one-hour cruise variant.
  • On its route, the ship also passes the former marina and “Czarny Róg” forester’s lodge, where there is an isthmus and passage to the western branch of the lake, towards the junction with the Elbląg Canal. In this place lies a railway embankment (built in the late 19th century across the lake) of the former Ostróda-Miłomłyn line, with a steel bridge. The railway line no longer exists today, and the embankment and bridge serve cyclists.
  • Fun fact: Lake Drwęckie is part of Poland’s longest ichthyological reserve: “Drwęca River Nature Reserve” – a faunal reserve aimed at protecting the populations and habitats of many fish species. For this reason, the lake belongs to the Natura 2000 network.
